I noticed we don't have a thread for the Vision DVD yet
I got my copy two days ago and would love to know your opinions about it.





Personally, I have been a bit disappointed about the picture quality, but maybe that's just imagination.

I LOVE the fact to have Another part of me on a DVD now
And I wonder if I have ever seen that extended version of TWYMMF. I knew an extended one, but am not sure if it's the same like on Vision.

Definitely new to me were the versions of Will You Be There with that alternate ending, without the angel, and the version of Gone To Soon.

I like the concept of the One More Chance video. But imo sometimes Michael's moves are too powerful and fast for that kind of song. I wonder how the video would have turned out to be if Michael would have been able to finish the shooting.

My "Michael Jackson: Vision" DVD had just been dispatched by Amazon to me. So I will get it in a couple of days.

From what I've seen on michaeljackson.com, Sony have designed some really cool "intro sequence cards" for each of Michael's videos. I'm really in to my illustration and graphics, so I always expect a high standard, especially when it concerns Michael Jackson. So I'm impressed !

I haven't seen the videos yet, so I can't comment. I've seen a clip of the One More Chance video, and it appears most of the shots of Michael are from a distance or at an angle, with very few close up shots of Michael's face like in the You Rock My World video. As we all know the 2000's were a very stressful time for Michael, and a period where the work Michael did as an artist from 2001-03 is forgotten. When Michael made some great songs, some songs I even thought then and think now will become classics in the future. From what I've seen of the One More Chance video, Michael's dancing is brilliant, and his movement and procision is very sharp, so Michael in brilliant form. So I'm looking forward to seeing this video.

Is the full length Bad video on the "Michael Jackson: Vision" DVD, with the end title sequence. I still have my 1987 recording of the full length Bad video with the end title sequence with a special dance edit of the song Bad, lyrics "I'm Bad, I'm Bad, You Know It, You Know It" etc. This was never including in the DVD's released in the early 2000's.

That's great news, as I've always loved the full length version of Bad. I wish it was also available on iTunes. But it's good some of Michael's videos are only available to watch in DVD.

If you talking about the Bad video and end title sequence with a special dance edit of the song Bad. I think you will really have to have been a fan who grew up in the 1980's, because I don't think most fans born in the 1980's or after will have known about the title sequence. So your not living under a giant rock.

Sorry, my bad, I meant the Vision DVD. I've seen the full version of the Bad video. I came across it by accidence and downloaded it immediately. I'd be nice to own it on an actual DVD.

I have just watched a couple of videos from the "Michael Jackson: Vision" DVD. So this is what I think so far from the videos of Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough, Rock With You, and She's Out Of My Life.

I'm disappointed that the picture resolution of the videos hasn't greatly enhanced. In fact I think the picture resolution of the videos has been degraded, as they appear grainy which they never were on previous DVD releases.

The Bad video still isn't the original that was screened in 1987. The title at the begining of Bad "BAD" has the background changed from white (so it was the same as the album cover) to black, making the title not so striking and effective. The end title credits with the a dance mix of Bad has been put back. But the visuals are different, as it's just a black background with the credits rolling. The 1987 end credits of the video had a photo of Michael's back with a fedora on taken from the 1987 Pepsi commercial. That end credit sequence was cool, and greatly enhanced the video.

The intro card sequences to the videos on the "Michael Jackson: Vision" DVD are brilliant. I've still got more videos to watch, hopefully Thriller looks as good as on the DVD for Thriller25 album.

I watched more of the videos last night. And I am very disappointed and angry at what I've seen.

First of all, all the video I've seen on disc one have had the picture resolution made lighter, making the videos look like bad 3rd generation copies. In some cases, like parts of the videos are blurred. For example on the Billie Jean video when Michael sings "So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice (Do think twice)", there is a long shot just before Michael does a spin in front of the billboard if the "Lousia" video of two girls. The long shot is very blurred and for a second static. This was never like that before.

Most videos have greatly improved sound, but are let down by the tampering of the colour/resolution on the videos with on some of them look heavily posturised. The Thriller video has been ruined, it looks faded and the sound is on it has been made a lot lower. Smooth Criminal looks awful, great sound but to grainy looking. And it doesn't look like that on the DVD, Blu-ray of Moonwalker, or the video cassette of the movie I've had since 1989.

I think Sony lightened the picture resolution, to give more definition to things like Michael's clothes, face and hair etc. But what they have done doesn't work or look natural. There are bits of the Bad video that are good, and give you a really good definition of Michael's face, but the video as a whole still looks too light. Don't Stop'Till You Get Enough seems to have a layer of lines running over the top that wasn't there before, and some sort of video filter seems to have been added to the coller of Michael's jacket that looks too digital. Rock With You seems to have enhanced the sparkle of Michael's rhinestone costume, and it just looks too computer generated.

I haven't watched disc 2 yet, so I have no idea what I think of the quality of the videos on that yet. But I did watch the Bonus Disc. The picture resolution on this disc is better. None of the videos I've seen before are greatly improved, but I thought the sound on resolution for the Enjoy Yourself video was brilliant. The video for Can You Feel it is a bit too light at very begining, but on the whole I think the picture resolution has been improved. Say, Say, Say, like all of the videos on Disc 1 has in my opinion been ruined. The prison version of They Don't Care About Us, looks amazing and the picture resolution is brilliant and how all of the videos on Disc 1 should look.

I really liked Michael's performance on the One More Chance video was brilliant, just a shame most of the shots of Michael were of his back or from a long distance. But that was obviously Michael's choice.

I just don't get how Sony could have ruined the picture resolution of Michael's greatest music videos on Disc 1. Billie Jean, Beat It and Thriller (and Michael's Motown 25 performance of Billie Jean) look stunning and of high picture resolution of the DVD for the Thriller 25 album. All Michael's videos look brilliant of Visionary CD/DVD discs that were released in 2006. Also on the much better on the HIStory: Video Greatest Hits than they do on the supposed "fully restored and remastered" videos on this Vision DVD.

It's nice and about time all Michael's videos were put together in one collection. But it's come at a price of Sony ruining Michael's videos. I sure I'll hardly ever watch this collection. Warner Bros who look after the movies of genius director Stanley Kubrick, won't touch his movies ie release anamorphic widescreen versions etc, but the director is dead and no longer around the approve any changes. The same respect should have been given to Michael Jackson's videos. They were perfect as they were, just that some original cuts like the Bad video should have been released, by Sony even changed the picture of Michael to a black background etc on the end credits.

I will stick my the previous DVD's of Michael's videos and my original 1987 recording of the full length Bad video. Because they still look stunning and were fully approved and seen by Michael. I'm not watch videos that have been badly tampered with by Sony.

I may be wrong. But I think the rule on most MJ fan sites is that both video and audio content that has officially been released by Michael Jackson via MJJ Productions.Inc/Sony can't be uploaded for legal reasons. Unreleased content is a grey area, but videos from "Michael Jackson's Vision" DVD is highly unlikely to appear on any fan site.

Thanks for your detailed opinion, Ben. I didn't know that the original version of BAD still is a bit different. I wonder what's the reason for them to make that changes.

Well, the video hasn't been finished. The director of One More Chance was interviewed by B&W magazine last year and he said that they had first done the takes from the back, with the audience on the stage and would have done the parts from the front later, when it wasn't necessary to have the audience on the set.
