Legendary group Jackson 5 launch J5 Collection to sell designs inspired by their iconic outfits.





It has been announced today that the Jackson 5 are to launch a fashion line in the spring. Jackie, Tito,Jermaine, Marlon and Randy Jackson - along with the estate of the late Michael Jackson - have all collaborated on the line, which is to be called J5 Collection.

The range is set to include T-shirts featuring iconic images of the band throughout their '60s and '70s heyday alongside replicas of the leather jackets Michael wore in his Thriller and Beat It videos - not strictly Jackson 5 era, yet bound to be a huge commercial success for all those die-hard Jacko fans around the world. Footwear and eyewear lines are also planned for coming seasons.


"I've been wanting to do this for a long time. I've seen other friends be successful with their lines, like Puffy with Sean John," eldest brother Jackie Jackson, told WWD. "I've been in this business for a long time and our name is known around the world."

The starting point for the range came from Jackie Jackson searching through all the group's memorabilia he had stored in his hometown of Las Vegas to choose imagery.

"The jackets are incredible. They are the real thing" said Jackie Jackson. "I didn't really think of them as tributes to Michael in the beginning, but that's what they are. They represent everything he stood for and everything he's done in this industry, 100 percent."

J5 Collection has already been snapped up by Urban Outfitters and will also be on sale via J5collection.com . T-shirts will retail from $32 (£20) and the leather jackets will go for around $600 (£375).
