But I love to look at all those great pics from different years, watching MJ grow up. I wish I had more knowledge about the era.

As a group I with all the brothers, I think the Jackson 5 were at there peak between late 1969-72. This was there most commercially successful period, and they seemed at there most cohesive as a group because Motown toned down Michael's amazing James Brown dancing, and had these amazing Jackson 5 dance routines with Michael, Jackie and Marlon were they would completely insync with each other. But Michael would always do the moves in a more stunning way than his brothers, and have some split second improvised dance move that really set him apart from his brothers. My favorite Jackson 5 dance routine is from the song Walk On, performed on the "Goin Back To Indiana: Television Special" from 1971, and also a Diana Ross television special from 1971.
I like the Jackson 5 the most around 1973-74, when Michael is performing songs like Get It Together and my favorite Jackson 5 song Dancing Machine where Michael does the most amazing robot dance, and some other really cool moves as well. This is when Michael appears to be allowed to really be the main focus of the group, and not having to stick to just the routines with his brothers.
But I do love the Jackson 5 era with Michael and his brothers. The music they made and also performed in concert was a lot more adult/sophisticated than most people think. Most of dance based performance groups or teen idol acts from The Osmonds to New Edition, New Kids On The Block and Take That etc are all modeled on the Jackson 5.
My favorite Jackson 5 album is ABC, and favorite song is Dancing Machine. I'd loved to have seen the Jackson 5 in concert, and I'm really looking forward to the new live CD album coming out next month "Jackson: Live At The Forum". I've got every Jackson 5 album on vinyl, and some of the original 7'' singles like I Want You Back, ABC etc. I've got every single Jackson 5 album on my iPod. I love all of Michael's eras, he was pure genius and the greatest from the time he appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1969.

Michael sure did have an extra special energy and aura, even as a child in the Jackson 5 he had that special something the majority of adults in music will never have. Michael didn't even need to singing and dance on stage to have that aura and energy, he didn't need extra lights or special effects. He could just walk across a room to sit on a chair, and that would amaze me because he was just magic. I saw Michael close up many times off stage, and he had a very strong, powerful aura and energy. But what made it so amazing is that his aura etc was a very gentle one, like the most fresh and clean air you could imagine. That felt like real kindness and magic, and a high voltage speed of fluid kinetic energy and procision.
In the UK the new "Jackson: Live At The Forum" isn't released until 2nd August. Mine is already on the way to me in the post from Amazon.
